Driven by the need to de-carbonize, Hydrogen (H2) is getting more and more attention from countries and investors.
Hydrogen offers users of industrial heat a significant gain. Existing carbon containing fuels such as natural gas (NG) can often be replaced with H2-fuel with only minimal changes to the existing steam/heat infrastructure. Which is a huge plus, compared to an other important sustainable option: green electrification. Hydrogen supplies in the need for high quality heat, increases efficiency of the installation and proven technology is available to promise reliable 0 CO2 and lower (!) NOx emissions.
Firing H2 and H2-rich fuels is not a new technology. Both De Jong Combustion and R&V Engineering have many references for conventional as well as for duct burners firing H2 and H2-rich fuels. And can be applied in new but also brown field applications.
De Jong Combustion and R&V Engineering continue to improve their burner performance with respect to efficiency and emissions for firing pure H2 fuel, H2-rich fuels, conventional fuels and fuel mixtures while complying to the most stringent emission regulatory frameworks.
